Rok GGBS
Type
Supplementary Cementitious Material (SCM): GGBS is a by-product from the blast-furnaces used to make iron. It is a finely ground, off-white powder with pozzolanic properties and is used to replace a portion of Portland cement in concrete mixes.
Used Case
- Ready-mix concrete (RMC)
- Precast concrete production
- Mass concrete works (dams, retaining walls)
- Marine and coastal structures
- Foundations and basements
- Pile foundations
- Green/eco-friendly construction projects
Key Highlights
- Enhanced Durability: Significantly improves resistance to chlorides, sulfates, and alkali-silica reaction.
- Reduces Heat of Hydration: Ideal for mass concrete applications to minimize thermal cracking.
- Sustainable and Eco-friendly: Lower carbon footprint compared to OPC (Ordinary Portland Cement).
- Improves Workability: Finer particles enhance mix flow and finishability.
- Increased Long-Term Strength: Strength gains continue beyond 28 days, improving structural performance.
- Light Colour: Contributes to better aesthetic finishes in architectural concrete.
Content
- Primary Ingredient: Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag
- Chemical Composition:
- CaO: 35–45%
- SiO₂: 30–40%
- Al₂O₃: 10–15%
- MgO: <10%
